It is extremely true in the changing time today where all major spheres are undergoing tremendous changes. With changing times, the role of education too is undergoing a drastic change. Today, education is not confined to text books along an educated person is one who is a lifelong learner fulfilling his/her urges to learn beyond the confines of the classrooms. The role of every person, every parent, school and society has thus emerged to be extremely important. All these agencies need to work hand in hand to bring about true education for the learners. The media, which is a powerful agency, known as the third pillar has a very responsible role to play in the upbringing of responsible citizens of tomorrow. The media needs to help the new generation shift useful and productive information from the whole lot of things available to them to become knowledge generators in the true sense. As the aim of education is to teach us rather how to think than what to think, rather to improve our minds, so as to enable use to think for ourselves than to load the memory with thoughts of other men.
It is only parents and teachers who correct the mistakes made by our children with love, patience and care so that they truly develop wings to soar high in the sky while keeping their roots intact. Our children should make advancement while keeping their basic traditions alive and it is for this purpose that good syllabus too has brought about changes in its curriculum and evaluation patterns. The continuous and comprehensive evaluation introduced by our aims to bring about wholesome personality development of each child so that we have all rounded personalities who adjust well in this fast paced technological era.
To end in Yeats’ words “Education is not filling of a pail but the lighting of a fire”. So let’s all come together to spread true light of education in our children’s life.
Knowledge is a product of an educational institution. Value based education and dignity of labour enriches the product further. A skill, potent and rich product in hand shall in hand, shall not be an expert but also a good citizen. Let that be an Endeavour of our school.
